Abstract: Topographic database of the Czech Republic (Data250). Minimal positional accuracy is 125 m and the level of detail corresponds to the scale 1:250,000. The content of Data250 consists of 50 feature types. The database is organised into eight thematic groups – administrative boundaries, hydrography, transportation, settlements, geographic names, miscellaneous objects, vegetation, surface and altimetry. Data is provided as open data in SHP data format.
Purpose: This data are homogenous and harmonised on state boundaries in the frame of Europe due to its origin. Therefore they can be combined with ERM data from other countries and obtain a high quality background for solution of not only national but also cross-border projects. At Land Survey Office this database is going to be used as a source for creating of national map series of the corresponding scale and for updating of thematic superstructures including ERM.

Other information: EPSG code 5514 S-JTSK / Krovak East North is an equivalent to the existing ESRI code 102067. The projection keeps the mathematic so called "east-north" orientation of coordinate axis where the X axis has positive values eastwards and Y axis northwards. This projection is suitable for exploitation in GIS applications. The projection is related to the Greenwich Prime Meridian (contrary to the EPSG 5221 S-JTSK (Ferro) / Krovak East North where the Prime Meridian is Ferro).

Data origin
Data origin information: The Data250 database was derived in 2023 from the Data200 database. Main source data for Data200 was EuroRegionalMap (ERM) database, or more precisely Digital landscape model 1 : 200 000 (DMÚ200) and Fundamental Base of Geographic Data of the Czech Republic - ZABAGED®. Sources for update of Data250 data are ZABAGED®, Fundamental Boundary Layer by ZÚ, digital orthophotomap by ZÚ, data from Territorial Identification Registry of Basic Settlement Units by Czech Statistical Office, data from the Road Databank Ostrava, data from Správa železnic (railway administration) and data from the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic.
